Who do you think won the final round of Pilipinas Debates 2016 moderated by ABS-CBN and COMELEC in Pangasinan? Do you think your candidate did well or have you suddenly felt the urge to switch to another candidate?
The third and final round of Pilipinas Debates 2016 was perhaps the most productive in unveil the government platforms and expose the character of the candidates. We now have a better understanding of who could be telling the truth, dodging the issues and who is accurate on his facts.
I know that you have your own winner for this leg of Pilipinas Debates 2016, but here is an analysis and tell us if you agree.
Miriam Defensor-Santiago. Her closing statement was perhaps the best among all the candidates. It aroused the passion of those watching at home and listening at the venue and perhaps could have convinced many undecided and others to still consider her as a candidate. Despite visible difficulty in speaking and being tired easily, Santiago had revived her prowess and managed to be more eloquent and significant in this debate.
Rodrigo Duterte. His charisma is still very visible. It is clear that he excels in the issue about peace process in Mindanao and about the issue on contractualization. Duterte is the only candidate who knows the real story about what happened in Mindanao and that is needed if we want to resolve this issue. He has a grasp of other issues but at some point he seems to make statements which could draw attention from the crowd. He is also very honest about his personality, lack of grasp on some issues, and achievements.
Grace Poe. She is in her usual self. She studied everything well and is presenting a platform of government that is also very admirable. The question remains, can someone without much experience turn platforms into reality? Her closing experience is also very emotional.
Mar Roxas. He had also been very well in this debate and making his stands on issues very clear. He asked the right question to Jejomar Binay which the later avoided to answer. If there is one concern about him in this debates, his stand on coal is very disturbing. It is also somewhat alarming that he would appear to be very sure in winning the elections considering that there are now issues about COMELEC data being in jeopardy.
Jejomar Binay. The main thing to be remembered about Binay in this debate is his way of answering the questions. He consistently walked towards the person asking the question and answered in a very concerned manner. This tactic however, did not work for him thus, he actually showed lack of sincerity He could have directly answered the question of Roxas but again he decided to avoid it. I am also perplexed to the importance of knowing household chores to his candidacy, is this his way of leveling himself and portraying that he is one of the masses?
